Our fun weekend

On Saturday my sister Leah (cuddling with Caleb above) had a meet the baby party for us at her home in Waukesha on Saturday. It was fun to show Caleb off to friends and family so early in his life. He was very sleepy for the event. We got a ton of diapers and restaurant gift cards which was awesome. Casey ranked in a couple of new toys as well. The picture below is a four generational picture. Matt's grandpa Bob, his dad Mark and of course Matt and the boys.

On Saturday night Casey had his first adventure riding his big boy bike. Casey thought he was pretty big stuff riding around with his Thomas helmet. Matt did most of the work because Casey doesn't pedal yet. Before you know it we won't be able to catch up with him though!



We also thought that it was time for Casey to hold his little brother. It lasted about 10 seconds, but we captured it on camera! As soon as Caleb squawked Casey was done.

On Sunday afternoon Matt's company hosted a Brewer's outing. We got to live it up in the GEHL club. We brought Caleb along and he was great. He actually watched a portion of the game with us. Matt and I ate way too much junk food and decided that we really need to stop eating like I'm still pregnant !

Big Brother Casey

Who knew that Casey would make such a great big brother? Matt and I really expected Casey to have a really rough time welcoming a baby into our home. He has been wonderful! He really enjoys touching Caleb's belly when he cries out during a nap. He also has to go get his stool so he can help us change Caleb's diaper. By help I mean he watches and then throws the dirty diaper in the the trash. Ever noise Caleb makes Casey is aware of so it is a good thing he doesn't cry often.

The other night Caleb had his first potchy (bath). Casey had a bath at the same time and then came to help me wash Caleb's belly. It is amazing how gentle Casey is with his little brother.

Family of Four

Well, I have to say we are adjusting to life as a family of four better than expected. We are very excited about having two little boys in the house. Matt had to get rid of the initial shock that Caleb wasn't a girl. He was so sure that the baby was a girl he didn't even want to pick out a boy name! Most of the pregnancy I thought it was a girl but towards the end had a strong feeling that we were having another boy. I am 3/3 on this one!




Casey is doing a pretty good job of adjusting to having a little brother. He does seem to be a bit emotional and clingy but that is to be expected. He really is gently with Caleb and loves to touch his head and sing rock a bye baby while rocking him in his car seat. It is precious. He doesn't understand a few things about Caleb though. He doesn't understand why he can't play with him, why he doesn't wake up very much and why in the world mommy is feeding him milk from her body. All of which I'm sure he will adjust to soon.

Caleb is adjusting well too. He still sleeps a lot and is starting to develop an appetite. On Wednesday when we took him to the doctor he was gaining weight and looking good. We take him in on Monday for another weight check. Last night he was up from 9:45-11:30 with daddy. He just couldn't get settled. But then we had to wake him up at 4:00 am for a feeding. He must have pooped himself out.

We are looking forward to all of the fun that is to come now that we have a full house of boys! I feel totally outnumbered already!!!

First Day Home!

Wow! Life as we know it will never be the same with two boys in the house! Casey is doing far better than we could have ever hoped for. He was so excited as we pulled up Monday afternoon. Both Caleb and mommy were crying as we opened the front door to see Casey. He really did a great job of welcoming his new little brother home. He was so excited and wound up all evening.

We really are blessed to have such a sweet baby boy. We are convinced his favorite thing to do is sleep. The only minor problem we have is that he doesn't latch on very well right now. So we are working with his pediatrician and a lactation specialist to help us through it. No worries though:)

Today Casey spent some quality time with daddy making a new train track in the basement and swimming in the pool. Uncle Andy and our friends Elizabeth and Karen stopped by for a visit this morning. For lunch we had a picnic on the patio...me and my 3 boys!!! What a blessed woman I am!

Meeting Caleb

Caleb has been getting to meet a lot of new people the past couple of days. Cousins, Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents and even his big brother! Casey got to come to the hospital last night - he also got to have his favorite meal: McDonalds chicken nuggets and French fries. Caleb also got him a new fire truck and Auntie Leah got him a new Cho-Cho train.

Caleb has been such a good baby for us; he is very content and likes to sleep a lot. He only has been fussy when he is hungry and when he is unwrapped during diaper changes and checkups.

Joy has been doing so great with her recovery she is walking around easily and eating full meals. She has been very strong and I am very proud of her.
We really want to thank all of you out there; we can feel all of the love, prayers and thoughts directed at us over the last few days. We love you all and we are very excited for all of you to meet Caleb soon.
We know we are very blessed and honored that God has trusted us with one of his precious creations and we are excited to raise Caleb and Casey to love Jesus and honor God in their lives.

Mommy, daddy and Caleb are doing great.

We choose the name Caleb hoping that this Caleb would follow in the footsteps of the biblical Caleb. He was a man of great faith in God and he followed him wholeheartedly. In Numbers 13:30 after returning from looking at the promised land 10 of the 12 who went said the land could not be entered but Caleb trusted in God’s promise, he was willing to take a stand with God: Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, "We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it." In Numbers 14:24 The LORD says of Caleb: But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it.

Family of 3

On Saturday we spent the morning at the Foxbrook beach in Pewaukee. We thought it would be fun to sneak in one last trip as a family of 3 before Casey's new sibling arrives on Friday. We packed up the car thinking we were going to the Wirth Park pool, but they weren't open in the morning. It worked out well though because our good friends Matt, Gretchen and their daughter Lilly were at the beach too! We had a great time swimming and playing in the sand. Casey was attached to his daddy and I got to relax and soak up the sun.

July 4th Celebrations!

We have been celebrating Independence Day since last Sunday, June 29th. Our church has an annual celebration called Amerifest. There is a great concert, fun stuff for kids, a car show and free food. Casey really enjoyed looking at the fire trucks and playing on the large bouncy slide. We found out that day that he is very scared of clowns. He was a bit clingy after a visit to get a balloon.









During the week we did some swimming at home in our new little pool. Casey really enjoyed going down the slide and splashing around. I had the pool filled with toys but he decided that they were not needed. Not enough space I guess.

We also spent a morning at the Wirth Park zero depth pool with some friends from church. Grandma Jill came along to help me chase Casey around the pool. He loved the slide, playing ring around the rosy and just splashing around. It was a beautiful day to take a dip!












On July 3rd we went to the Stanley's home for their annual party. They live about a block away from the Menomonee Falls parade and the fireworks are set off across the street from their backyard. It is the perfect place to enjoy some 4th of July fun. We didn't make it for the fireworks this year but we sure enjoyed the parade. Casey was glued to our sides after the firetruck honked it's horn a couple feet away from us! He didn't cry, but his entire body was shaking. His cousin Hannah enjoyed grabbing all of the candy she could. She was such a good girl and shared it with her prego Auntie Joy:)








The morning of the 4th Matt ran in his first official race called the Firecracker 4 in Hales Corners. He ran with a friend from work and a couple of guys from our Sunday school class. Matt did a great job seeing as though it was his first race. He finished in a little over 32 minutes which is about an 8 minute mile! Yeah honey! It was a bit early for Casey and I to go so my friend Gretchen took some pictures for me.



The day of the 4th we had our annual family get together at our house. It was a fun afternoon filled with great food, water fun for the kids, and ladder ball and badminton for the adults. We really enjoyed having everyone over and it was a beautiful day to be outside.

Splish Splash!

The weather here in WI is finally nice enough for Casey to have some fun in the pool. On Tuesday we spent the morning splashing around with Hailey and Riley. It was their birthday so we also got to enjoy some yummy ice cream cake as well. It worked out well, let the kids get full of ice cream and then throw them in the pool to clean them up!

Casey's Grandma Jill (Matt's mom) is staying with us as we prepare for the baby to arrive in a couple of weeks. We took Casey to a wading pool in the neighborhood to splash around and cool off a bit. I sat in the water and played with Casey and Jill had the fun job of chasing Casey around. I think she got a great workout!

LUAU

My sister Leah had a Luau celebration for Matt and I before our wedding which was almost 5 years ago. Since she bought so much stuff for it she decided to have one every year. If my memory serves me right she may have skipped one or two years in there due to babies and what not.

This year's Luau was a celebration of Riley and Hailey's 2nd birthday. I can't believe that they are two already! Casey was not in the mood for a party that evening but did enjoy a blue frosted cupcake. The girls were ready and willing to party it up though. It was a gorgeous day and everyone seemed to have a great time. Hailey is in pink and Riley is in blue.
