one lucky gal

Do you ever take a moment to realize how much you have been blessed? Last night I was up for a long time due to a visit from the police at 11pm about a burglary a couple of houses down. Of course Matt's opinion on the matter was that the guy already hit one house that night so we had nothing to worry about! Well, for this worry wart...that wasn't the case! As I lay in bed tossing and turning I was thinking about how the Lord has kept my family safe through many unfortunate circumstances in our neighborhood over the past couple of years. I also had some time to think about what a lucky gal I am.

I have this truly amazing (not to mention gorgeous) husband. He loves me on my crabby days and claims to love my cooking! We have so much fun together no matter what we do. Did I mention that he is the best father to our boys? The way he interacts and plays with the boys makes my heart melt. I love him so much!
Not only do I have the best hubby in the world but I have the cutest kids too! Casey is at such a fun age. He says things everyday that make me laugh. Today he humored me with his funny facial expressions about the smell of his brother's diaper. We always have good conversations while driving in the car. Today we discussed how one pedal is the gas and the other is the brake. I love how he is so observant and full of questions.

Caleb is my little lovey. He loves to hug and kiss me. Last night I had the opportunity to do swim lessons with him since Matt wasn't feeling real well. It was so fun to interact with him in the water. He is so serious and just takes it all in. I love being able to have one on one with both boys, it is such a special time.

God has blessed me with such a wonderful family and I am so thankful.

Cubbies!

At Spring Creek Church we have a program on Wednesday nights called Awana. Matt and I serve in the T&T program which is for 3rd-5th grade students. Caleb plays in the nursery and Casey participates in Cubbies which is for 3 and 4 year olds.

Casey is so excited about being a Cubby. As you can see from the picture, he wears a cute little vest and carries his tote with his very own book in it. Each week he is asked to learn a new Bible verse. The first verse he learned was "while we were sinners, Christ Jesus died for us" -Romans 5:8. His teacher Heidi said he was so excited to recite it to her.

Along with learning Bible versus with their leaders the kids get gym time and story time as well. What a great program!

Dozer Day

Matt and Casey were able to enjoy some father-son time last Saturday at Dozer Day in Sussex. Here are some pictures from their fun adventure!

CHICKEN DANCE AND SAUSAGE RACE

On Sunday afternoon we left Caleb home with grandma and then it was off to the Brewer Stadium for a ball game! The highlight of the game was watching Casey's facial expressions and listening to the crazy things he had to say.


Between innings the crowd was participating in the chicken dance. A bright yellow chicken was dancing on the big screen. Casey seemed a bit startled by this. After the song was done Casey says, "I've never seen a chicken dance before!" Then he went on to tell us a long story about how the cement truck was going to dump cement on the chicken and that he needed to take a long nap. I believe that was code for...I never want to see that again.

He had the same look of bewilderment during the sausage race...my favorite part of the game. The sausage race is especially cool on Sunday afternoons because the big sausages hand the baton to the little sausages. You can imagine how happy Casey was to get these pictures taken with them later that day!

catching up

Matt is upstairs making salsa (let me know if you want some) and the boys are sound asleep so I thought it would be a good time to update the blog.

The last couple of weeks the little guys and me have all gotten sick. Casey ended up missing his first day of three year old preschool because he had a fever and mama wasn't feeling all that great either. To be honest, I didn't mention it and I don't really think he knew the difference when I said that Thursday was his first day! When I walked him to his new room he acted the least bit phased by the fact that we were going to a new classroom (he attended 2 year old preschool at CCC last school year as well). He peaked into the classroom to find that his friend Trent was in his class. Don't let the door hit you on the way out mom! Ok, maybe I am being a bit dramatic, but it seems as if both of my children could care less when I leave them places. Thank goodness they get excited to see me when I pick them up, otherwise people might start to wonder...

1st day of school

I know that all of you have heard us comment about what a spirited and passionate child Casey is. The older he gets, the more we fall in love with those characteristics. Partly because the screaming episodes are far and few between! His laughter is contagious and his smile is such a blessing. He is so full of life and love. The older he gets the more I fall in love with him. Caleb had his first swim class with daddy this week. Matt said that Caleb seemed to really enjoy it. He isn't quite as animated as Casey so sometimes it is hard to tell. I'm sure he was taking it all in. Hopefully it will be a special time of bonding with his pappa. Below you can see him floating with the kickboard. He looks like he's on a mission to get that green ring.



As Caleb is getting older (almost 14 months now) his personaltity is starting to shine. He sure does have an opinion about things and doesn't like it when his big brother bullies him. I can always tell when Casey has taken a toy away or pushed him down just by the loud scream Caleb lets out.

Besides the typical baby babble, whining and screaming...Caleb has begun to say a few things. His vocabulary consists of quack quack, ah-oh, nuk (more like nuuuuuut), more (ma), and all done (ah da). Pretty impressive hey?

What is most impressive to me is how much this kid can eat and stay so thin! He is our long, lean machine. Here are some pictures to show you just how much he loves his food.

Caleb also really enjoys playing with the big kids. Whatever Casey is doing, Caleb wants to do too. Today I found them playing trucks together. Casey is very good at playing with his brother as long as Caleb keeps his hands out of Casey's play area.
