Bay Beach

On our way up to Door County we thought it would be a good idea to stop some place fun to break up the drive a bit. I had heard good things about Bay Beach Amusement Park in Green Bay. It was literally one minute off the interstate so we didn't have to drive out of our way at all.

Some of the things that make this a great place to go with your family:
  • each ride costs 25-50 cents
  • the concessions are no more that $1.50 and include cotton candy and snow cones
  • there is a train ride
  • nice wading pool
  • beautiful scenic background
  • nice play ground and picnic areas
We spent a few hours there and spent no more than $20 for our family to go on rides and buy treats at the concession stand. That is a deal!

Great America

We spent the day Monday at Great America with the Reed clan and Grandma Karen. The kids loved the rides and the water park. We may have to make it an annual event.

beatin' the summer heat

I don't remember a time where we had so many hot and humid days in a row. I think we have had our air conditioning on for a week straight (usually we only run it for a handful of days in one summer). We found fun ways to stay cool besides hanging out in our cool house though.

We splashed in the little pool.

The Reed clan came over one evening to enjoy the "big" pool with us.

One morning we took cousin Lucy to Kids in Motion with us. She loves Joshie.

This week it is supposed to cool down a bit. I'm just hoping for a break from the humidity...yuck!

Camping Craziness!

This past weekend we went on our annual crazy camping trip with our life group from church. This year 14 families attended (I think there were 35 kids). We camped at Ottawa lake which is not too far from home.

Oh good, we did pack Caleb!

Joshua's first camping trip...he was a happy camper!

Caleb and his friend Eva having a lolly pop Casey keeping Joshua entertained while we unpack

Appears as if Casey would like a swig of that juice box Eli!

Joshua having a blast at the beach

His sidekick Ada enjoyed it too!

Hanging out in the air conditioning with the Krause kids (our camper rocks!)

I couldn't resist taking a picture of Evan hanging out in the water
with his daddy

I love community meals. So do the kids!

Half of the ladies, the others must have been swimming across the lake or something.
And last but certainly not least...the planner of this wonderful trip...my very beautiful, and 9 month pregnant friend Gretchen

Can't wait until the next one! This is my favorite camping trip of the year.

Caleb is 3!

It seems like only yesterday Caleb was cuddled up in my arms. Now he is an active little boy who loves his brothers, being outdoors, and playing trains.

7.11.08

7.08.11
To celebrate Caleb's birthday we invited some friends over for pizza and cupcakes. We played a couple of games and did a gift exchange. I don't think Caleb was crazy about sharing his gifts with his friends, but the other kids seemed to enjoy the idea!

While we waited for the pizza to arrive we enjoyed the beautiful weather and played in the water.

Caleb had to sit by his big brother and the other big kids for lunch.

Then it was time to sing happy birthday and have cupcakes. Caleb wasn't a fan of all the attention...

But he did enjoy his cupcake!

On Sunday we invited family over to celebrate. Caleb insisted on having a blue train cake. So I colored the frosting blue and plopped Thomas on the top! He had a great time playing with his cousins.

Thank you to all the special people who helped make Caleb's birthday special! We love you all!

Pewaukee Triathlon

On Sunday, July 11th Matt participated in the Pewaukee Triathlon for the second year in a row. He was very pleased to have beaten last year's record by about 20 minutes. His time this year was 1 hour and 36 minutes. The race includes a 1/4 mile swim followed by a 16 mile bike ride around the lake and it finishes up with a 3.1 mile run.

Here he is as he nears the finish line

We surprised daddy and showed up to cheer him on as he finished the race

Here he is with his cousin Tom who also did an awesome job

Way to go honey, we are so proud of you!

Firecracker Fun!

What a beautiful weekend the Lord blessed us with for the holiday. We took advantage and spent most of the weekend having some fun in the sun!

Silly time in the pool with daddy

2 things checked off the summer fun list: Fox brook beach and building a sand castle

We spent the fourth of July with our friends at the Brookfield parade and then at our friend's house for some food and fun!By the time the evening rolled around we decided to skip the Fireworks and go to bed early. The boys were tuckered out from having so much fun in the sun that day. Four hours in a pool will do that to you I guess!
