Banting Halloween bash!

The schools can try to be political and call it a "fall festival", but let's face it...it was a Halloween party! Casey was so excited to go to his first family event at school. Four of the five Buntrocks dressed up (I'll let you guess who was the party pooper).

When we got there the gym was packed. Caleb was spooked by a dad in a scary mask and Casey was overwhelmed by the crowd. We did have fun however. We colored pumpkin pictures, ate yummy snacks, watched kids dance, and decorated pumpkins. After about an hour, Matt took the boys home for bed and I stayed to serve snacks and drinks. Overall it was a fun night. My favorite part was seeing my cute boys in their costumes for the first time. Precious! Introducing...

A special morning with Caleb

Today I had a special morning with my sweet Caleb. Ever since I went on Casey's field trip to the pumpkin farm a week ago, Caleb has been asking me when I was going to take him! Good thing I had thought ahead and already planned a field trip for my "mommy group" to go to one today!

We left Joshie in good hands with Grandma Karen and headed out for our morning. We met about 18 other moms and their little ones at a fun little pumpkin farm in New Berlin.

Glacier Rock Farm

I was blessed to join Casey and his kindergarten class for a field trip to the Glacier Rock Farm this past Friday. There were so many fun things that I got to see Casey participate in.

First of all we got to see and touch some chickens, a hedgehog and bunny rabbits.

While we were visiting with our animal friends a beautiful turkey came to show off for us. I was so surprised that it let the kids touch him!

Next it was off to the chicken coop to chase the chickens. I was shocked that Casey even wanted to go into the coop. Then he asked me to catch a chicken for him to hold!

Next it was off to milk Dotty the cow. Again, my son surprised me.

One of my favorite parts of the trip was seeing Casey ride a pony!

Our last adventure was the hay ride around the beautiful scenic farm.

The bus ride showed me yet another new side of my son...Casey the lover boy!
He told Giana that he wanted to marry her and that he loved her....

I said, "No Casey! You love mommy!"

What a fun day I had with my son. I am so glad that I was able to share some special time with him. My favorite part of the whole day was watching him as he tried so many new things, I was a proud mama. I also enjoyed holding his hand as we walked around the farm.

Thanks Nana for watching Caleb and Joshua so I was able to go on this fun trip!

Soccer Star!

Casey is finally old enough to play Upwards Soccer at our church! We (and when I say this I mean Matt) has been waiting for this for a long time. When we first started attending Spring Creek, before we even had our boys, Matt would coach Upwards soccer and basketball. Once we had Casey we decided that he would hold off to coach again until Casey played.

In preschool Casey had a friend who he would play soccer with at recess. He showed some interest so we signed him up for a fun soccer program over the summer. Since he enjoyed it so much we asked him if he would be interested in playing on a team with daddy as his coach. He was excited and pumped up for the season.

The first practice went great! Casey had a great time, and so did Matt. Unfortunatley the first game didn't go so well. During his summer league he never had to play a real game, he was used to doing drills and having everyone get a turn. Needless to say, he ended up in tears on the field and refused to play in the game that day.

After a week of talking about it and explaining to Casey what an important part of the team he is, we thought that maybe we had a 50% chance of him playing in the second game. I rounded up some of my mommy friends to pray for Casey that morning. Joshua was sick so I had to stay home and I missed the game.

When Casey got home he couldn't wait to show me which award he had earned. I was hoping for the effort award...instead he had earned the offense award. Casey had not only played that day...he even scored a goal! I couldn't believe I missed his first goal! It was probably a good thing. I may have run onto the field and completely embarrassed the poor kid.

Walking for a purpose

It has become a Buntrock tradition to participate in the Children's Hospital Al's Run/Walk event each year in the fall. We do this in memory of our daughter Madilynn. It is one of the neatest events to be a part of. So many people come together to raise money for a hospital that has touched the lives of so many families.

Thanks to our friends and family who supported us through prayer and financial gifts. And a special thanks to my mom for walking with us.
